A Birthday Look Back

Roxie Rocks Chicago

Around this time last year, I was visiting Chicago, not having any idea I would be living here a year later! A lot has happened between then and now. Sometimes, it’s easy to forget how much you’ve done and how far (both geographically and professionally) you’ve come. Here’s a bit of a birthday recap.

Since July 15 of last year, I have:

  • Completed a Goodman Theatre Development Internship
  • Started working at Writers Theatre as a Marketing & Communications Assistant
  • Attended various shows, seminars, and networking events
  • Entered the Chicago audition scene
  • Made lifelong friends and received amazing mentors
  • Continued honing my training and technical skills
  • Moved into my first apartment
  • Became a company member and grant writer for Cold Basement Dramatics
  • Performed in the following:

Peter Pan (Tiger Lily/Nibs/Bill Jukes), Stage B Theatre Company: First Chicago play
Spectacle Lunatique
(Performer), Redmoon: First performance art experience
Master Works: The Degas Plays
(Florence), Commedia Beauregard: First original role
Annie Get Your Gun
(Winnie Tate), Wilmette Starlight Theatre: First Chicago musical
The Ballad of Don Q
, Cold Basement Dramatics: First Chicago reading
The Grand Duke
(Martha), The Savoyaires: First Gilbert & Sullivan operetta (upcoming)

Throughout this whole process, I cannot say how much I appreciate the love and support of my friends and family. It’s been hard being away from Youngstown, but I know I continue to have a home there and here.  Who knows what will happen between now and next year? Stay tuned!
